Auto Parts: Audi Brakes

Audi brakes, like all automobile brakes, should be inspected regularly. By having regular maintenance checks done, you reduce the chances of a problem becoming expensive. This is important because there are already fewer repair options for imports than there are for domestic cars.

One of the problems with imports such as Audis, is that their rotors start at the minimum thickness. This is to help reduce weight. The flip-side of this is that since they are already very thin, these rotors cannot be turned. Turning rotors is a great way to save money. Instead, when these brake discs begin to wear down they must be replaced.

Audi Brake Maintenance Tips
Thankfully, there are a few things you can do yourself to keep on top of brake maintenance. Twice a year at least, you should inspect the condition of your brakes. Look at the rotors. Check the surfaces of both sides for any scoring or defects. If any are found, you should replace your rotors. The same goes for discoloration. This is a sign of overheating, which is not that uncommon with imports. Overheating can cause warping, which you definitely do not want.

Brake pads should, of course, be checked as well for any uneven wear or cracking. Once again, if defects are found, pads should be changed. Some Audis have sensors built in that will warn you of pad wear.
