Auto Parts: Acura Brakes

With most Acura brakes you can expect occasional minor squeaks and squeals. Brakes are noisy sometimes. Just because you hear them, doesnt mean there is anything wrong with them. Most cars make slight sounds when the pads touch the rotors.

Of course, that doesnt mean brake noise wont drive you nuts. But it also doesnt mean you cant drive your Acura safely. The reason for the noise is, in part, due to the materials used. Semi-metallic brakes are made of metal shavings. These brakes do their job well and can last a long time. The problem is they have a tendency to be noisy. It is also good to note that some brands are simply noisier than others.

Brake Sounds to Listen for
Still, there are some sounds that you should listen out for. Sometimes squeaks come from loose brake pads. Worn pads can also cause squeaking sounds. Any rhythmic or constant noises are something to watch out for. They could be signs of a warped rotor. These sounds are sometimes accompanied by pulsating brake pedals.

If you do notice a problem with your Acura brakes, it is best to get if fixed as soon as possible. If your rotors or drums are overstressed, they could break. Also, brakes that are too worn down do not perform properly, which could put you and your passengers in harms way.
